Experian credit check
Credit checks are so important these days. Everything from credit and store
cards, to bank loans and mortgages will be decided on credit checks made against
your name. What many people don't realise is that they can credit check their
own credit report in
order to see what information the credit agencies hold on their credit
history and what lenders see when you apply for credit.
Why run your own credit check?
A credit rating is
one of those invisible factors that can actually play a significant role in
your life. Not only can a poor credit rating exclude you from offers, products
and services, it could also affect your ability to open a bank account, get
certain jobs or even get a roof over your head.
Whenever you apply for credit, the credit provider will run a credit check
before deciding whether to let you have their products, services or loans.
If your credit check indicates that you may represent a credit risk for some
reason, two things can happen.
- As a result of a poor credit check, you may be refused the product or service
you want
- You may be offered credit, but at a higher rate because of the perceived
risk to the lender
Making a credit check on your own report will allow you to see if you have
credit problems. It will also show if you have been the victim of ID
fraud, or if there are historical mistakes that are compromising your credit
score.
